Outlook News Article
Great Outlook News article about WVSC Street Soccer program.

Get back to the basics

This fall the West Vancouver Soccer Club plans to “let the game be the teacher” with an innovative street soccer program aimed at kids ages five to seven.

The program, which kicks off in September, takes a unique and fun approach to the sport known as “discovery learning,” which means the games are often self-directed by the children themselves.

Bill Sparling, President and Head of Coaching and Player Development at the WVSC, says the street soccer program is about giving young players a positive introduction to the world’s most popular game.

In street soccer there are no lines, lectures, or laps around the field. Kids are allowed to play freely, with little or no input from adults, which fosters imagination, creativity, and a love for the game.

“It’s all about having fun, and developing basic skills like agility and balance,” says Sparling. “We try to stay away from the competitive side of the sport.”

At its core, street soccer is designed to give the game back to kids, providing an alternative to “overly coached” and “overly structured” soccer programs.

For more information on the program, which runs Saturday at Hugo Ray Park, contact the West Vancouver Soccer Club at 604-922-4261 or email soccer@westvansoccer.com.

WVSC Pee Wee Season Information
IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

** IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ **

WVSC Pee Wee Season Information

Dear WVSC Pee Wee Parents and Players,

                We hope your 2009/2010 soccer season was a good one.  From what we saw, it was! The little ones were sure catching on quick up at Hugo Ray, and the U8’s and U9’s were showing their stuff at Eagle Harbour and Cypress Park.  We were disappointed about having to wrap up early because of the Olympics, but what an Olympics it was!  What a great opportunity for all our players to see such top level sport and competitive spirit.  And now, we have the best sporting event in the world taking place: the WORLD CUP! It only comes around every 4 years. We hope everyone does their best to catch some games.  Our North American kids need to watch as much FOOTBALL as possible!

Over the last few months, our club has been working hard to prepare for another great season. To that regard, we have a couple of changes to let you know about.  These changes will only affect some age groups (not all of you!), but we want everyone to be aware of them.  Firstly, a new artificial turf field has been scheduled to be put in on Ambleside ‘A’ (the gravel field by the tennis courts).  This is reducing a fair amount of field space that our club would normally use for practices. Secondly, the three North Shore BOYS clubs (Lynn Valley, Mt. Seymour, and Lions Gate) have amalgamated and decided not to interlock with our club.  We’ll explain how we plan to deal with these changes below.

                Firstly, because Ambleside ‘A’ will be under construction for the whole 2010/2011 season, only U10 and older teams will be practicing outdoors.  U8 teams have always practiced indoors and this year the U9’s will join them.  We appreciate that this might be disappointing for some, as there are definitely perks of practicing outdoors, but with our crummy Vancouver winter, I’m sure the kids won’t mind staying inside!  And the best news of all is; the club is starting something new with our U8’s and U9’s.  Their practices will not be any old indoor practices. This year, they will be starting a new program called FUTSAL!

Futsal was first played in 1930.  The game’s essential elements consist of 5 players -a -side on a basketball size court using a no-bounce ball. The no-bounce ball requires players to control the ball using skill rather than the bounce of the ball. In Latin America and many countries in Europe, Futsal is second only to soccer as the most played sport. Named for the Spanish futbolito and the Portuguese salao, combining to mean soccer played indoors.  This game has honed the skills of numerous international stars including Pele, Zico, Maradona, Ronaldo and Kaka.

The priority in Futsal is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more pleasure kids derive from their participation, the more they wish to play and practice on their own. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for soccer must be cultivated. Futsal is the foundation to such goals because it:

·         Allows players to frequently touch the ball.

·         Presents many opportunities to score goals often.

·         Encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive, fun and rewarding part of the game (defending).

·         Maximizes active participation and minimizes inactivity and boredom.

·         Allows the game to be the teacher.

The WVSC Technical Staff will be offering a demonstration session for you to attend and take in firsthand what a great developmental tool Futsal really is.  They will also have a separate session for the volunteer parent coaches to show them the basics of Futsal coaching.

In addition to their weekly FUTSAL sessions, all our U8 and U9 teams will play games on Saturdays.  U8 and U9 GIRLS will continue to interlock with the North Shore Girls Soccer Club as they always have, U8’s after Christmas and U9’s from September onwards.  U8 and U9 BOYS, however, will not be interlocking with another club.  As mentioned, the Lynn Valley, Mt. Seymour, and Lions Gate BOYS clubs amalgamated into one bigger club (now called North Van FC).  Just recently, the newly amalgamated club informed us that they will not be interlocking with our boys for the 2010/2011 season.  Instead, they will just be playing games within their own club. As a result, we will have to do the same. Our U8 and U9 boys’ teams will play games against each other on Saturdays.

Playing against other WV teams might not seem as exciting as playing against other clubs, but it does have its benefits.  It means less travel, less pressure on winning/losing, and more focus on development (where it should be!).  We ask that, as parents, you show support on this issue to your boys.  Don’t forget that this is want North Van is doing as well.  And truthfully, the boys won’t care who they are competing against anyways, North Van, West Van … or Avitar; they just want to compete!!

The club does want to give the boys the opportunity to play against other clubs at some point during the year, even though they will not be interlocking.  To do this, we are looking to host a series of Jamborees throughout the season. These will also take place on Saturdays and will include other nearby clubs like Squamish and Bowen.  Hopefully this will help to satisfy our boys’ competitive spirits, and it will give them a chance to demonstrate some WVSC PRIDE!

We hope you are excited about the upcoming season and the new direction our club is taking.   If you require any further clarification, please email your Pee Wee Coordinators.

Sincerely,

WVSC, Jammer, and Ros

BC Soccer Announcement
2009 - 2010 Provincial Teams Program Head Coaches.

2009 – 2010 Provincial Teams Program
Head Coaches Announcement

With its continued advancements within the area of player development, BC Soccer’s Provincial Teams Program has become a symbol for players and coaches who are dedicated to enhancing the development opportunities for elite players at the Regional, Provincial, and National Team level of play.

It is with a continued commitment to its players overall development that the BC Soccer is once again pleased and excited to announce the 2009 - 2010 Provincial Teams Program Head Coaches. See below for detailed information.

Under 13 Boys
Head Coach: Darren Rath
Under 13 Girls
Head Coach: Wayne Shaw
Under 14 Boys
Head Coach: Rob Csabai
Under 14 Girls
Head Coach: Ken Garraway
Under 15 Boys
Head Coach: Dante Zanatta
Under 15 Girls
Head Coach: TBA
Under 16 Boys
Head Coach: Michael Findlay
Under 16 Girls
Head Coach: Markus Reinkens

The Provincial Teams Program professional and nationally certified coaches continue to provide a "Player First" focus as it relates to its overall program mandate.

This provincial wide development program, which includes a seven month evaluation process, ultimately selects a total of 144 male and female players from the ages of U13 through U16.

Once selected, these players enter a responsible but intense professional training and development environment. This environment includes domestic and international experiential soccer travel opportunities. These development focused trips have been created to provide the best possible opportunities for players to experience and benefit from the travel and training environment they may encounter at the international level of play.

It is the goal of BC Soccer to continue the growth and provide standards for a recognized Provincial Teams Program.

This will provide the elite soccer players in British Columbia an opportunity to reach their full potential within the overall BC Soccer / Canadian Soccer Association / Whitecaps FC model for development, which supports the CSA Long Term Development Model.

HEALTH ADVISORY
H1N1 Virus and General Hygiene as Flu Season Approaches

1.0 The Flu Virus

With considerable speculation as to the impact which the H1N1 virus could have on Canadians this fall and winter, the following specific recommendations and general hygiene tips are being issued to BC Soccer member Clubs, Districts and Leagues to help everyone take steps in preventing the spread of this virus and all other influenza viruses in the coming months.

This advisory is being issued as part of the SportMed Soccer program in conjunction with SportMed Safety, resources offered to the BC Soccer membership in partnership with SportMedBC, the network of more than 500 sport medical and paramedical practitioners operating in British Columbia.

2.0 The Symptoms

Influenza (including H1N1) is caused by viruses and is generally spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Signs and symptoms of influenza-like illness include: the acute onset of respiratory symptoms with fever and cough and one or more of the following symptoms: sore throat, muscle aches, joint pain, or weakness. In children under the age of five, gastrointestinal symptoms may also be present and fever may not be prominent.

3.0 The Precautions

Here are 10 simple, common sense precautions that can help BC Soccer Clubs, Districts and Leagues safeguard the health of players, coaches, referees, administrators and their families during the upcoming season.

i) Avoid close contact with people who are sick;

ii) Urge players to report ALL illnesses to their parents and coach and/or team trainer. Instruct parents to keep their children away from the soccer environment if they are showing any signs of infectious illness or virus;

iii) See a health care provider as needed and ensure full recovery prior to returning to play (at least 24 hours of no symptoms without medication);

iv) Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water. This is one of the best preventions we can recommend. Keep alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers in sideline first aid kits and use when soap and water are not available;

v) Talk to your players about covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing into their arm as opposed to their hands. If using tissues, ensure they are thrown away immediately after use;

vi) Try not to touch your own eyes, mouth or nose when in the soccer environment. Individuals can become ill by touching a surface contaminated with germs and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth;

vii) Use your OWN water bottle and clearly label it with your name. Avoid direct lip contact with the container and do not use sport drink bottles that don't squirt;

viii) Do not share towel, clothing, bar soap or other personal items such as razors;

ix) Protect your immune system - get sufficient sleep, eat nutritious foods (coloured fruits and vegetables) and avoid overtraining;

x) As an additional precaution, clubs have the option of considering implementing alternate ways to shake opponent's hands at the end of the match – a group cheer or a pass-by without contact.

5.0 SportMed Soccer

SportMed Soccer is a new resource program for the BC Soccer community of member Clubs, Districts and Leagues. The program features simple tips in Sport Training for players and their parents, along with relevant information in Sport Medicine and Sport Science applied to the game of soccer. SportMed Soccer includes information and tips on nutrition, hydration, recovery, injury prevention and basic first aid treatment. It is a partnership between BC Soccer, the provincial association responsible for the promotion and development of the game in British Columbia, and SportMedBC, the professional not-for-profit society representing the network of more than 500 sport medical and paramedical practitioners in the province. SportMedBC also provides onsite Sport Safety support for BC Soccer and its member Clubs, Districts and Leagues.

3rd Annual Strachan Hartley 5Km Legacy Run
On October 18, 2009, we would like to invite your sports club to think globally and act locally by participating in the 3rd Annual Strachan Hartley 5Km Legacy Run.

In July 2007, Strachan Hartley – athlete, doctor, brother, son, husband and friend, lost his life after a heroic 21 month battle with cancer. He was only 30 years old. To fulfill his life-long mission of making a difference in the world, his family, friends and community created the Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation, a nationwide charity dedicated to providing opportunities to help youth achieve their full potential through sports and education. Make a Difference.

We are very proud of our progress as a growing organization. In two years, the SHLF has:

·         Raised a grand total of $450,000 from over 4,000 donors;

·         Held 18 successful events in 10 cities across Canada, including 4 in Vancouver;

·         Established partnerships with five Canadian organizations to provide over 200 at-risk youth with opportunities to achieve their full potential through sports and education;

·         Provided funds to help 1,300 youth in Cité de Soleil, Haiti receive after-school meals, tutoring, coaching and competition.

On October 18, 2009, we would like to invite your sports club to think globally and act locally by participating in the 3rd Annual Strachan Hartley 5Km Legacy Run.  This year, we are looking to increase our Youth Giving to Youth initiative; providing them with a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their peers in other areas of the world:

·         Youth sports teams who run in their team colours will not be asked to pay the standard minimum donation entry.

·         Instead, we encourage them to raise as much money as possible with the promise that every penny raised, regardless how big or small, will go directly to a soccer, basketball, baseball or track team of their same age in Haiti or Vancouver’s East End.

·         We will facilitate a relationship between your team and the team you are supporting by providing at least their coach’s information and photos of their progress throughout the year.

SHLF believes strongly in the value of sports and education in the development of young people, here and around the world.  We are excited to provide this opportunity to encourage our local youth to make their own difference in the world and are committed to ensuring that they see the results of their contributions.

Please consider including October 18th as an official training day for your team by participating in this exciting community event and show your team that they too can make a difference in the world!

We are keen to embark on a lasting and mutually-beneficial relationship and are more than happy to hear from you with any questions or concerns.

Warm regards and see you on the 18th 9:30 am at Handsworth Secondary School,

Mary Ann Hartley

SHLF

WVFC Invitation
The West Van FC wishes to extend an invitation to any and all interested graduating and graduated youth players to come and meet with us and tryout for the Club's teams for the forthcoming 2009-2010 season.

March 31, 2009

Dear Friend,

West Van FC is a Senior Mens' soccer club, competing in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL), the top amateur soccer league in British Columbia. On behalf of the Club I wish to extend an invitation to any and all interested graduating and graduated youth players to come and meet with us and tryout for the Club's teams for the forthcoming 2009-2010 season (which starts in August, 2009).

The club was formed in 2005, when three well established North Shore soccer clubs: West Van Trollers, Deep Cove Royals, and Pegausus F.C (2004 National men's champions) merged into one club. The club is now comprised of some 80 players and staff competing in the VMSL in three divisions: VMSL Premier (players of open age), VMSL Division One CAT (players of open age and is a "feeder" team to the Premier team) and VMSL Masters Premier (players over 35 years). We are affiliated with the West Vancouver (youth) soccer club.

We are also closely linked to the Capilano University men's soccer team, current BCCAA and CCAA (National) Champions. Many players play for both West Van FC (both the Premier and CAT team) and Capilano University, and there is a crossover of coaches between the two teams. West Van FC home games are held on Friday evenings and weekend at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, our home facility. Training sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Ambleside artificial turf fields.

The VMSL Premier team is this year's VMSL Champions and 2009 Imperial League Cup Winner. The VMSL Masters side is the 2005/2006 and 2007/2008 VMSL Masters Premier Champions, 2006/2007 VMSL Masters "A" Cup Champions, and 2009 VMSL Masters "A" Cup finalists. Both the Premier and Masters teams have qualified for the 2008-09 Provincial Cup playdowns starting in April, 2009. The Division 1 CAT team is this year's league champion.

The Club has strong local following and has strong ties to the local community. It has top notch facilities, coaches, players (including many ex-Vancouver Whitecaps) and a strong sponsorship. It is currently one of the top clubs in the Lower Mainland. Youth players coming to West Van FC will experience a true club atmosphere, and will be exposed to tremendous soccer opportunity that cannot be matched on the North Shore, or perhaps the entire Lower Mainland.

For further information please contact Andy Bramley at 604-562-6998, or at dcrfc20@telus.net or Bob Sloman at 604-661-9375 (work) or 604-921-8603 (home) or at rsloman@farris.com.

Yours Truly,

Bob Sloman, West Van FC

The North Shore Girls Soccer Club (NSGSC), West Vancouver Soccer Club (WVSC), Squamish Soccer Association (SSA), Whistler Youth Soccer Club (WYSC), Pemberton Soccer Club (PSC) and the Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA) are working together this year to form District Girls Metro teams at the U14/ U15/U16 levels for the 2009-10 season.  Representatives of each Club have come together to form the North Shore District Girls Metro Operating Committee (DGMOC) and will be running the tryouts and looking after the teams.

Try-out fees will be $35.00 if you register on-line prior to April 5th, 2008 or $50.00 if you choose to register at the field.  These fees are separate from the tryout fees that are collected for players wanting to tryout for the Club's Gold & Silver A Select teams.  Please register for the tryouts via the NSGSC website as follows:

To register for U15 District Metro Tryouts click on the following link:

U15: https://secure.millsoft.ca/nsgsc/wvcontent/event_reg1.asp?appid=nsgsc&event_id=23

The District Girls Metro Operating Committee will be looking to form two District Girls Metro U15 teams for the 2009-10 season.  The approximate cost to participate in the District Girls Metro Program has not yet been determined; however, the cost to participate in the Program for the 2008-09 season was $750.  The fee will cover the following team expenses:

  • Fee for Coach
  • BCSA registration fee
  • Field fees
  • Referee fees
  • Equipment costs

There will be an additional kit fee for players requiring a new uniform.  Teams may also be asked to fundraise to cover additional costs such as bags and sweat suits.

The District Girls Metro Operating Committee is currently accepting coaching applications for the U14/U15/U16 District Girls Metro teams.  We have several applications so far and are running ads to attract the best coaches available. Coaching applicants must have a minimum of a Community Coach Senior Certificate, as well as applying for B- prep certification and qualify for risk management clearance. The successful applicant will have significant coaching experience, knowledge, abilities and personality suitability to make these District Girls Metro teams a success both on and off the field.  Professional references must be provided and the deadline to apply is March 8th, 2009.  If you are aware of any qualified coaches, please ask them to contact the Chair of the District Girls Metro Operating Committee, Bill Sparling, at sparlingbill@shaw.ca.

If you have any questions regarding the District Girls Metro Program, please contact Bill Sparling at sparlingbill@shaw.ca

Sincerely,

Bill Sparling

Chair

North Shore District Girls Metro Operating Committee

Sideline Noise Levels
We have recently received notice of complaint addressed to the Mayor of West Vancouver regarding the noise level at Hollyburn Elementary School on Saturday's during soccer games. This is a field that has close residential proximity.

We have a lot of games/practices during the week in close proximity to residential areas throughout the North Shore District and I would ask that all of our teams be aware of their surroundings and attempt to tone down the cheering and coaching instructions coming from the sidelines.

It would be a shame to be banned from fields for soccer use especially since they are a very limited resource to us.

This is a polite request to help save our fields.

Thank you for your cooperation.

New Uniforms!
After 15 years of faithful service the time has come to retire the old Club divisional uniforms (U11-U18) for new uniforms (as illustrated).

This means each team will have to return all of their old uniforms at the end of their season. The new uniforms will be distributed in August. The Board has decided that all West Van divisional teams will wear the new style uniforms. Only those teams that currently have a different style of uniform will be allowed to continue to use them, but not replace them. Alternate jerseys, in white, will be available for games involving two West Van teams.

    CBC’S SOCCER DAY IN CANADA CELEBRATES THE BEAUTIFUL GAME

    WITH FIRST-EVER BROADCAST, SUNDAY, JULY 8

    Inaugural telecast headlined by FIFA U-20 World Cup doubleheader featuring Team Canada

    As soccer fever continues to take Canada by storm with the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the inaugural CBC’S SOCCER DAY IN CANADA takes the field on Sunday, July 8 at 3 p.m. ET to celebrate the beautiful game and provide a snapshot of the sport’s growing popularity in Canada from soccer pitches all across the country.

    The first-ever edition of CBC’S SOCCER DAY IN CANADA examines soccer’s current role in and impact on Canadian society, with a particular focus on the phenomenal growth of the game at the grassroots level.  Headlining the celebration is a must-see FIFA U-20 World Cup doubleheader kicking off at 5 p.m. ET with Portugal versus Gambia from Montreal, followed by Canada against Congo at 7:30 p.m. ET from Edmonton.   On CBC Country Canada, viewers can see live coverage of New Zealand versus Mexico at 5:15 p.m. ET and Chile versus Austria at 8 p.m. ET (see broadcast schedule below). Sunday is the final day of group match play, with qualifying teams heading to the Round of 16 beginning on Wednesday. Host Scott Russell will be front and centre at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton to host the broadcast extravaganza and provide reports as Team Canada gears up for its final game of group match play that evening, while analysts Dick Howard and Bob Lenarduzzi, along with reporter Mitch Peacock, check in from the studio in Toronto.

    During the broadcast, CBC’S SOCCER DAY IN CANADA will visit the following locations across the country, exploring soccer’s importance in these communities:

    • Edmonton, Alberta – Russell will be joined by Nigel Reed and Craig Forrest at Commonwealth Stadium to report on the FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand versus Mexico and Canada versus Congo matches
    • St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador – Peter Gullage reports from a celebrity soccer game at King George V field – featuring Rex Goudie, Brad Gushue and Mark Critch – with all proceeds going to Kidsport and minor league soccer in Newfoundland
    • Laval, Quebec – Lynne Robson reports from the Compétence 2000 grounds at the Laval Cup, one of Quebec’s largest soccer tournaments
    • Vancouver, British Columbia – Karin Larsen will be on-location from the Wish Cup Soccer Festival at David Lam Park, reporting on the special 24-team tournament that will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of B.C. / Yukon and the Creative Peace Network Society. Canada’s national women’s soccer team will also make a special guest appearance

    In addition to visiting several locations throughout Canada, CBC’S SOCCER DAY IN CANADA telecast will present the following stories:

    • “Island Games” – Sara Fraser tells the story of a 17-member women’s soccer team from P.E.I., aged between 17-27, headed to the International Island Games in Rhodes, Greece
    • “The Ultimate Soccer Mom” – in Yorkton, Sask., Jean Fetsch, a former National women’s soccer team member now organizes or coaches seven of her nine children’s soccer teams
    • “FIFA Escorts” – Dan Seguin tells the story of a 12 year-old-girl from the Ottawa area, who plays for the U-12 FC Capital United Regional Team, and whose dream is to be selected as an “escort captain” at the FIFA U-20 World Cup; her story is also one of being a new Canadian, as her father is a former Kenyan sprinter and soccer player
    • “Homeless Soccer” – Cameron MacIntosh takes a look at a league of homeless soccer players who are trying to make the team for the World Cup of Homeless Soccer, held this July in Copenhagen.
    • “Toronto FC Fanatics” – Mark Kelly spends a day in the Fan Zone at a recent Toronto FC game to see why fans are so fanatical about the game
    • “Nunavut Kids” – A group of young people from across western Nunavut will travel to Edmonton, Alta. to attend soccer clinics and FIFA U-20 World Cup games. Odile Nelson reveals how the trip is a reward for their dedication to both the sport and their education.

    Also on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT, CBC Radio One’s extensive coverage from the FIFA U-20 World Cup continues with a special edition of CROSS COUNTRY CHECKUP, Canada’s only open-line radio program. Congratulations to Michelle Pye and Paul Ward
    for having been nominated by Canada to the international governing body of association soccer : FIFA.

    I would like to make everyone aware (if you didn’t already know) that two of our own North Shore Referees have reached the highest level officials, in this great game called * Soccer *, can reach.

    Congratulations to Michelle Pye and Paul Ward for having been nominated by Canada to the international governing body of association soccer : FIFA. It literally takes years of competition, training, successfully moving up all levels and surviving to reach this lofty international level. They join the ranks of only five other Canadian soccer referees and shall now be invited by FIFA to various prestigious tournaments around the world.

    Despite these busy soccer commitments and making a living they have not forgotten where they both started their careers at youth level soccer. Somehow they still found time to help out and mentor our young referees at our monthly Peewee meetings at Delbrook centre where they joined up with Nick Hawley and Robin Woods. These get-togethers were well attended and helped our next generation of officials greatly. This coming Tuesday, April 3rd, both Paul and Michelle shall be receiving Distinguished Achievement awards at the North Shore Sport Awards evening held at Park Royal North starting at 7:30 p.m. This is a prestigious event and I urge many of our fellow referees and soccer enthusiasts to attend and cheer them on.

    May I also inform you all that our BCSA FIFA Referee Mauricio Navarro is officiating the Semi Final of the 2007 CONCACAF Champions CUP. This important international match shall take place in Hidalgo Stadium, Mexico on Thursday, April 5th starting at 6:30 PM Pacific time.

    Fox Sports World Canada shall be broadcasting this game.

    Yours in Soccer, Eric R. Keller ~ Referee-in-Chief NSYSA

    For the 2007/8 season 4 District have implemented a development league for U11 boys. These teams will play against teams from other Districts so there will be travel involved.

    The teams will be balanced and consist of approximately 30 percent of the U11 age group. This will probably mean that 2 balanced teams will be formed. There will be no league scores kept and no Cup play. There may be a year-end Jamboree. Players will be chosen not just by skill but also by their commitment to soccer and their potential to develop. The teams will be chosen not from a tryout but by input from current team coaches and the Head Coach.

    The balance of the players will be placed on teams and play other teams from the North Shore. These teams will also benefit from development and will be worked with closely.

    All teams in this age group will play “Super 8 Soccer” (8 v 8)

    Any player not wishing to be considered for a development team should make this known to their coach and to the Jammer at jafshar@shaw.ca

    Futsal Fiesta
    Yes it is back! The Richmond Snowflake Futsal Fiesta will take place this December 29th and 30th at Hugh Boyd Secondary School in Richmond.

    It’s called a ‘Fiesta’ because it is designed to be fun, played cleanly, skilfully and in the good spirit of friendly competition – purely for the joy of it – no stats, no trophies, just soccer. The action of the games and the cheers of the spectators make our Futsal atmosphere a truly amazing soccer experience.

    So bring your team to the last soccer event of 2006 – enjoy the action, pace, fun and noise of Richmond’s Snowflake Futsal Fiesta.
